Scriptures

We love the Word of God and we will share with you some verses out of the Bible that have impacted our lives.  Our pastor said the Amplified Bible is a women’s Bible because women are detail and men are headliners – so I will be sharing the scriptures in both the King James Version and the Amplified version.

Psalms 23 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, he leadeth me beside the still waters.  He restoreth my soul, he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies, thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. (KJV)

Psalms 23 The Lord is my shepherd to feed, guide, and shield me, I shall not lack.  He makes me lie down in fresh, tender green pastures, He leads me beside the still and restful waters.  He refreshes and restores my life (my self), He leads me in the paths of righteousness, uprightness and right standing with Him – not for my earning it, but for His name’s sake.  Yes, though I walk through the deep, sunless valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me, Your rod to protect and Your staff to guide, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil, my brimming cup runs over.  Surely or only goodness, mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord and His presence shall be my dwelling place. (Amplified)

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want, I learned the word “want” meant “lack of any good thing”.  The Lord is my shepherd I shall not lack for any good thing.

He MAKES me lie down – beside restful calming waters, do you remember hearing little brooks or streams looking at lakes that were like glass, still and calm – can you remember how calm you would became to sit and watch?  There is a time to become still, to rest, He refreshes and restores my life.

Yes, though I walk through the deep, sunless valley of the shadow of death, it is only a shadow, I will not pitch a tent and stay there, I WILL NOT fear or dread evil for YOU, MY LORD are with me!  You protect me, You guide me, You comfort me when I become discouraged.

You prepare a table before me, a banquet, it’s a long table with a beautiful cloth, many things are on the table, Love, Peace, Joy, Comfort, Health, Healing, Mercy, Grace, Blessings beyond compare – I can take any and all that I want because You, My Lord have prepared it especially for me.  You anoint my head with oil, the anointing of the Holy Spirit to surround me and enfold me in Your Love, my cup will never be half empty because You always fill it up to overflowing.

Only Your goodness, Lord, Your mercy and Your unfailing love to me shall follow me and never leave me every day of my life.  I long and seek to dwell with You in Your presence, my Lord, all the days of my life.

Jeremiah 29: 11–13  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  Then shall ye call upon me and ye shall go and pray unto me and I will hearken unto you.  And ye shall seek me and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (KJV)

For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.  Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you.  Then you will seek Me, inquire for and require Me as a vital necessity and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. (Amplified)

The first thing that struck me when I read the first line was, God, Father God thinks about me!  He thinks about you!  He thinks about your mom your dad, He thinks about your children, He thinks about your wife or husband – He is THAT personal – to have thoughts of us!  How many billions of people are in this world and He thinks about you and me.  What an awesome Father we have!  Then next came; thoughts and plans – the Father has a plan for each of us, He has a plan for you, an assignment from the Throne of Heaven for your future, something only you can accomplish.  Thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you an expected end or hopeful future to give you hope in your final outcome.  Your final outcome is designed by the Father– our Heavenly Father has seen the end from the beginning – He is never surprised or shocked He is never discouraged, He hasn’t changed His plan for you, He will never go to plan B.  He already knows the outcome!

Next comes – you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me and I WILL hear and heed you.  You will seek Me, and FIND ME when you search for Me with all your heart.  The Word says our Father WILL hear us, a prayer never goes unheard in Heaven, and He pays attention to us and our prayer.  We always have a listening ear to our prayers – again how wonderful is that?  When you seek God and inquire of God as a vital necessity with your whole heart you WILL find Him!

I John 5:21   Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

As I was studying this morning I read Chapter 5 of I John and this was the last verse of that Chapter.  I found it odd that God would “throw” this verse in at the very last when the chapter is talking about our faith in God, and our faith in Jesus His son.  –  Then I read it from the Amplified Bible!

Little children, keep yourselves from idols – false gods, (from anything and everything (my emphasis) that would occupy the place in your heart due to God, from any sort of substitute for Him that would take first place in your life).  Amen.  So let it be.

There are things in this day and age that have “taken over” in technology – it started with the telephone, radio and when television was introduced the world became smaller – you could see world events on the evening news – now you can watch it while it’s happening.  We are now in the age of computers, satellite dishes and technology that is being advanced at “warp speed”.  Phones in 3G and now in 4G, and I pads, in 5 years that will all be ancient and out of date!

We as the body of Christ can get so engrossed in our phones and computers we have little time for family, let alone God our Father.

Armond and I went out to dinner the other night for his birthday and when we sat down I noticed the table behind Armond with a family of 5.  Mom and dad with three little girls – I would guess the ages to be about 11, 9 and 7.  The mother and the father were both on their phone – either texting or playing a game – not one word to each other or the children.  When the food came the dad never said a word to the family and the mother only talked to correct the girls in a harsh tone.  I commented to Armond about this, that families don’t even take time to communicate to one another except by phone or texting!

I can see why the Apostle John wrote “keep yourselves from…..anything and everything that would occupy the place in your heart due to God from any sort of substitute for Him that would take first place in your life.”

As we are waking up in the morning before our feet hit the floor let’s spend time in prayer having a “love feast” with our Lord, knowing God in our daily lives is SO much more important than any phone, game, computer, movie or TV program.  Stay in constant fellowship with Jesus throughout the day.

One morning this last week I woke up with this song in my spirit.  “Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and all that is within me bless His holy name.  He has done great things, He has done great things, He has done great things, bless His holy name.  Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and all that is within me bless His holy name.”  I then looked up in Psalms 103:1-5 which gave me the verses I needed for the day, for the week and for the month.

Psalms 103:1-5  Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me, bless His holy name.  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits; who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases, who redeemeth thy life from destruction, who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies, who satisfieth thy mouth with good things, so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Psalms 103:1-5 (Amplified) Bless (AFFECTIONATELY, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is (deepest) within me, bless His holy name!  Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not (one of) all His benefits – who forgives (every one of) all your iniquities, who heals (each one of) all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercy; who satisfies your mouth (your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation) with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle’s (strong, overcoming, soaring)!

I will AFFECTIONATELY, gratefully praise you, my Lord; from the deepest part of my soul I will bless Your holy name!  I will affectionately, gratefully praise you, my Lord, and I won’t forget the many benefits you have given me.  You, my Lord, who forgives every one of my sins, You, my Lord, who has healed my body, You, my Lord, who has taken me from death unto life in You.  You, my Lord, who has crowned me with new and tender mercy every morning and shows your loving kindness to me each day.  You, my Lord, satisfies my mouth with good and pleasant things so my youth is restored, renewed, I become strong in You and can soar like an eagle close to You.  You, my Lord are the giver of my life and the lifter of my head.

This morning while reading over some of my notes I came to one that I had boxed in.  Since I had boxed it in I must have felt there was some importance to the verse, so I began to dig and really study this verse.

Luke 4:18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

Luke 4:18 (Amplified) The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me (the Anointed One, the Messiah) to preach the good news (the Gospel to the poor); He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed (who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity).

This verse is talking about Jesus reading the scriptures in the synagogue – He is reading about Himself and declaring what He was sent to this earth, from heaven, to accomplish. (It is also found in Isaiah 61:1&2)

The Spirit (the Holy Spirit) of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed (to rub on, to pour on, to smear with oil) Me to preach (announce good news, evangelize, declare, bring glad tidings, preach) the gospel to the poor, (beggar, pauper, to toil for daily subsistence, starving); He has sent me to heal (to cure, heal, make whole) the brokenhearted (crushed, completely shattered, broken to shivers) to preach (to herald, divine truth-the gospel, proclaim, publish) deliverance (freedom, pardon, forgiveness, liberty, remission) to the captives (a prisoner of war, capture, be taken, make to doubt) and recovering sight (look up, see, receive sight) to the blind (opaque as if smokey, physical or mental, to inflate with self conceit, high minded, be lifted up with pride) to set at liberty (freedom, pardon) them that are bruised (crushed, cracked, shattering to minute fragments, broken down).

In one verse Jesus has told us what He CAN and WILL do for them and FOR US!  PRAISE THE LORD!  The first thing He talks about is finances, the second is healing of the body, healing of the spirit and healing of the soul.  Jesus has covered every area of ones life in one verse.  “Jesus the way, Jesus the truth and Jesus the life” John 14:6.

II Corinthians 9:15  Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift.

II Corinthians 9:15 (Amplified) Now thanks be to God for His Gift, precious beyond telling, His indescribable, inexpressible, free Gift.

The Strong’s Concordance says “Gift” – sacrifice or offering.  God’s gift to us is His son, Jesus, the name that is above every name.  The free gift (now how many things in this life are free that is worth anything?) God’s most precious gift to us, Jesus!  Just to meditate on the name of Jesus will bring you peace.

Jesus, who was born and laid in a manger.  Jesus, who was the son of a carpenter and most probably a well, respected carpenter himself.  Jesus, who was baptized in the Jordan River by his cousin, John The Baptist.  Jesus, who taught in the synagogue.  Jesus, who asked fishermen to come an follow him, leave everything they new, had and loved to follow him, imitate him, live with him, eat with him, sleep like He slept and fish for men!  You don’t read anything in scripture where these 12 men were hesitant in following the most prized, precious, indescribable gift from God.  Jesus, who would spend hours praying to His Father.  Jesus, who healed the sick, Jesus, who walked on the water.  Jesus, who raised the dead.  Jesus, who was spit upon, had a crown of thorns on his head, was beaten beyond recognition and took 39 stripes on His back for our healing.  Jesus, who was crucified, buried, went to hell himself so we would not have to.  Jesus, who rose from the dead and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father!  That most precious, wonderful, indescribable, inexpressible free gift, JESUS!  JESUS the life giver, JESUS the healer, JESUS our Savior and our Lord!

For the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power – making it active, operative, energizing and effective; it is sharper than any two edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and the immortal spirit, and of joints and marrow that is, of the deepest parts of our nature exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12 (Amplified)

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee; he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.  Psalms 55:22 (KJV)

Cast your burden on the Lord, releasing the weight of it and He will sustain you; He will never allow the consistently righteous to be moved – made to slip, fall or fail.  Psalms 55:22 (Amplified)
